The initiative was further strengthened by the involvement of key dementia care stakeholders and Alzheimer’s disease Foundation Malaysia (ADFM).
On 19 September, the Monash campus came alive with interactive booths that turned curiosity into meaningful conversations.
MindSpark finalist teams added energy with games and volunteer recruitment, while Neurowyzer’s digital screening showcased how technology can reshape healthcare.
The momentum carried forward as several students signed on as AvantHealth promoters, gaining skills and confidence to continue brain health advocacy beyond the event.
Building on the excitement of Day 1, the Dementia Awareness & Advocacy Workshop on the following day became the centrepiece of the initiative.
With over 200 registrations and 125 attendees, the session not only surpassed expectations but also showed the growing demand for dementia awareness programs across generations, ranging from students to the wider community.

Eight expert speakers contributed to the day, including Professor Tan Maw Pin (Head of Geriatric Medicine, Universiti Malaya), Ms Sangeeta Rao (Occupational Therapist, Hospital Permai), Ms Tay Chia Yi (Speech-language Therapist & President, Malaysian Association of Speech-Language and Hearing), Ms Jenny Lim (retired nurse, ADFM), Dr Siti Maisarah (Lecturer, Monash University Malaysia), Ms Dinnee Kong (Rehabilitation Manager, Genting Dementia Care), Ms Soo See Ann (Head Psychologist & Product Manager, Neurowyzr), and Ms Jocelyn Tay (Care Concierge),— delivered talks that translated knowledge into practical strategies for everyday care.
Their insights, combined with interactive elements such as free brain screenings, dementia simulation activities, and awareness created a dynamic learning environment that was both informative and engaging.

Importantly, the workshop also strengthened strategic collaborations with all the dementia care and advocacy partners, Act4Health, Neurowyzer, Genting Dementia Care, Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation Malaysia (ADFM) ensuring that the conversations sparked at AvantMind Matters campaign continue to ripple outward, amplifying impact well beyond the campus walls.
A Collective Step Forward

The success of AvantMind Matters shows the power of combining science, advocacy, expert insights and youth energy to create a lasting impact.
It raised awareness of powerful health strategies among future healthcare professionals, trained young ambassadors for brain health, and fostered meaningful partnerships.
Most importantly, it strengthened the call for a dementia-friendly ecosystem, one that bridges knowledge with action.
This is just the beginning — stay tuned as AvantHealth continues to drive brain health awareness across Malaysia!
