Persatuan Syukur Penyayang Pulau Pinang
Sharing from Mr Peter Tan, on the center’s journey
AvantHealth organized the first CSR project by visiting Persatuan Syukur Penyayang Pulau Pinang (PSPP) on 22 July 2023. PSPP is a non-profit organization in Penang that offers to a place to stay and meals to homeless elderly people found wandering in the streets or abandoned in public hospitals with no next of kin. The home is established by a compassionate founder, Mr Peter Tan, who found many homeless people fall through the cracks of social welfare as they do not fit the criteria for acceptance into certain institutions. He has set up the home to shelter those left behind, but even so, against a huge number of cases, resources to sustain the residents’ needs is limited. Hence, donations in kind and cash are always welcome. The home operating on a lean environment, has a well-organized team to manage the different medical needs and care for the residents.
Blood pressure monitoring
Blood sugar monitoring
AvantHealth’s team visited the home and did basic health checks like blood pressure and sugar monitoring for all the residents. Before the visit, AvantHealth checked a list of needed supplies at the home, and provided gloves, diapers, milk powder, and disposable underpads. This visit served as a reminder to be grateful always and that much can be done to support kind initiatives like Persatuan Syukur Penyayang who constantly remember those who have been forgotten.
